OK here goes....My first question;
I lived in Cape Coral, on a Salt Water canal , used to catch all kinds of fish off the little dock , { SE13st} used to get some big jacks ,couldn't believe it when a school would come thru, used to castnet mullet when they showed up , constantly had rays hit ,don't know how many, everyday I caught rays it seemed,
even watched a big green gar w/black spots come swimming by gulping air once,
Caught nice Snook on plugs around the other docks,
OK I never actually saw this Fish, but one night I was sitting there with 2 rods out ;one was a 50/80 w/Penn 309M {I know now} & a 7/0hk with 150#stainlessto 50#Big Game with a piece of stingray, something hit & took off like freight train, it broke the rig where the hook was swiveled onto it
Always wondered what the heck it was it felt HEAVY,
I know you can't tell but , think it could have been a BULL that swam up the canal ? The Gulf was n't that far .....
I live couple blocks from that address and grew up fishing all over there occasionally you would catch some bulls around the area but nothing ever over 5 foot!
One of many big bulls Rene caught in his times but I don't have a record of it's length(i think maybe 8 ft 9).Back then we mostly judged our sharks by weight not length even though we would often weigh and measure.

Iused to live close to that area and i caught some small bull like 4 -5 foot. i know one day some guy got grazed by either a shark or school of jacks or macks. and the fwc officer tried telling me from the bite it looked like a huge bull shark and when the guy showed me the mark it was tiny maybe 4 ft shark at best

Sounds about right.....
There's alot of stories floating around about what lives in the canals ,what passes thru , I had a few hits ,among all the fish I caughtor lost ,there, that I couldn't explain after they'd gotten away ,
Had a few bite the hooks off had a jig hook straightened out one night late about 2AM on a Saturday nite,no idea what hit it.
Here's a story about that place ,not fish story tho.....
One weekend I was there myself around dinnertime; 5 - 6 o'Clock, My Wife was over to her friend's place off Chiquita [think it was]...anyway, there was a tremendous Thunder Storm coming up,
Well, a huge Flash/Bang of Thunder&Lightning hit , the kitchen lit up like Hiroshima, my Dog dove under the table, I hollered "Look out ,i'm right behind you ,girl!"
So, after it stopped, I go out the back to see what it hit,
Couldn't see a thing!!
Couldn't figure it out.....I KNEW it HIT Something, but WHAT?
I was out next morning early fishing on our little dock,my Wife comes out, says where's that little Palm?
THAT was IT!! The Lightning blasted the 6ft Palm just on the bank where it started to slant down towards dock!
Blasted it to shreds no bigger than your finger!
